Well, believe it or not, Norma is still making new brass for Sharp and Harts. Midway USA has some available. It's not cheap, but all and all, fairly reasonably priced, and a lot simpler than fire-forming your own.

My 7x61 was made by Flaigs on commercial FN action. Twenty years ago or so a fellow made cases for it for me. First ones from 7mm Rem mag, were workable but shoulders were wrinkled a bit. The second batch was made on .300 H&H brass and was perfect. The rifle shot 140 grain bullets over 62 grains IMR 4350 very well.
My 7x61 Sharpe and Hart rifle was made by Flaigs on an FN commercial Mauser. Bought in a pawn shop years ago for a pittance due to odd caliber. At that time I was able to get 100 Norma cases and had a fellow make another 100 from .300 Winchester brass. It shot 140 grain Nosler Solid base bullets at a chronographed 3200 fps, quite accurately. I remember the powder was IMR 4350 and it was Hornadys top listed load. i hope to haul it out and look up my load and shoot white tail with it this year.
How long is the barrel on yours? Mine is carbine length, probably 20 inches, and though I've owned it for years, I have never actually chronographed it.
I recently purchased a 50-year-old 7 x 61 Sharpe and Hart. I really like the gun, but I didn't realize just how obscure the cartridge is anymore until I did a web search and came up dry. I'm hoping to gather reloading information, general facts about the cartridge, and anything else that proves interesting here.
Send me Sharpe and Hart stuff
Do you have a rifle chambered for 7 x 61 Sharpe and Hart? Send me a photo. Have some loads that have worked well for you for this cartridge, share them with the world (or at least with the two or three dozen of us out there still shooting these things).
I grew up with guns and enjoying shooting and reloading. I seem to be particularly attracted to obscure things, so long as they work. Owning a 7mm Sharpe and Hart fits well with that. And I'm an Anglican priest, which is also a bit obscure.
